Stan Smith shoes have been having quite ‘the moment’ for the last little while. Adidas have managed to encapsulate the perfect trainer as seen through the the eyes of the style set. This style set include the urban hipsters who are nipping at the heels of Phoebe Philo of Celine, and wearing them so well with the tailored trouser. Then there are the cool chicks and bloggers who work them impeccably with their dresses and skirts. They also get much love for the likes of me – mum’s who love their denim as much as their kiddliwinks. Running after a kid dressed as Batman whilst he is learning to ride a bike zipping down the road, needs to be nominated for an Olympic sport! No chic school run is complete without Stan. Stan gets to frequent the elite bars of London, the front rows of New York Fashion week along with the sidelines of kids soccer games in the company of enthusiastic maternal fans. Stan is the man for me and my capsule wardrobe!
The history of the Adidas Stan Smith shoe
The American Tennis player, Stan Smith, began wearing the first leather tennis shoes in 1971. After two successful seasons, Adidas decided to name the white leather shoe after Stan. Since 1973, the Stan Smith trainer has gone from the tennis court to the urban streets. The Adidas Stan Smith has become one of the most iconic unisex footwear styles. Check out the great video that Adidas show currently on their website, where Stan reckons he is more famous for his namesake shoe than his tennis career!

How Stan strides with me today………
Topshop ‘authentic shirt jacket’ in Canada – listed as the ‘Utility Shirt jacket’ in the UK (current)
Gap stripe tank top
Zara black skinny crop jeans (current)
Madewell & Biltmore black Fedora hat
Miss Stan W white shoes in snakeskin edition
Love this outfit. It couldn’t feel more ‘me’ if I tried. This is what a capsule wardrobe is all about! Treasured items that you want to wear time and time again. I have my lovely on trend fedora hat for exceedingly bad hair days, paired with my lovely snakeskin edition Stans. I own a pair of Stan Smith classics but am really enjoying these Miss Stans I found in the sale. Put on the Zara black skinny crop jeans for the iconic black skinny rolled jeans formula. The jeans have that magic bit of stretch in them that will see me through any Sushi buffet!! This Topshop jacket is current. I absolutley love it. It is the one Kate Moss was seen wearing recently and I completely appreciate any love she has for it. It’s the perfect ‘cost per wear’ item as I feel in about a month or two it will be paying me to wear it!! A nice contender for dress up and down and it will happily come out to play in all seasons as the perfect layering partner. I feel this is the ideal easy day outfit but if I got a call to meet mates at the Sushi restaurant, all I need to do is warn the jeans they will need some super sonic stretch and throw on a skinny scarf, a bit of bling and a flash of red lippy.
