So there I was, flash back to a fortnight ago, a typical weekday early evening. The daily script for this time of day had me chopping up salad, waiting for some pasta to cook (twas a ‘boil and drain’ night, boil and drain, baby!!) whilst barking reminders to my 9-year-old to put on his baseball trousers. The glory, oh the motherhood glory of having boys. So, just as the cat was circling my legs in a valiant attempt to knock me my off my feet sideways, I hear a little ping on my phone. I peek over at the iPhone banner notification to reveal ‘Topshop x Man Repeller’. Oh-my-bloody-good-god. Can this be true? is this a dream? am I reading this right? am I delusional amongst the boiling steam of the pasta pan? or have I just drunk too much wine? No, its only 5pm for gods sake!

All hail the Man Repeller x Topshop collaboration video
Hands up! any fellow Leandra Medine & Man Repeller blog fans out there? Did you also have a little squeal in delight and spill your wine on the Kitchen floor for the Cat to drink up at this exciting news?! So, I can truly say I got myself all in a dither when I first played their fabulous collaboration video on the Topshop website. True to form, Leandra and her fab dolls were nothing short of hysterically funny, real and well,…them!! A brilliant collaboration, in my book. They are a match made in heaven. Eclectic dreams. Check it out here! and feast your eyes on their other chosen goodies (if they’re still in stock, sob-sob).

Some Sass and Stripe action
Once I had watched the collaboration video, on repeat, for the 3rd time. I literally gasped for air as I took in the glory of Leandra’s blue striped asymmetric shirt as she made her coffee in the kitchen. Now obviously, we all love a good stripe, don’t we?! and being the true stripe addict that I am, I am recklessly reaching for my iPhone and tapping that Topshop app like a 1980’s video game!

There it is. Leandra’s stunningly beautiful Topshop Boutique (ah, of course!) blue striped shirt. Love at first sight. Asymmetric draping of striped cotton to win over the heart of any Vivienne Westwood fan.
So, I’m sure you can predict the outcome of this beaut. Yep, SOLD OUT immediately. One minute it’s on the Toppers website, the next it’s size options are fading fast, then its bloody sold out and taken off the airwaves, in an attempt to stop us melting down in the kitchen, crying into the cat’s fur (he doesn’t mind, he’s pissed drunk anyway!!).
For my UK mates, it may be sold out online but if the stripe shopping gods are with you, then check your local store(s). For my Canadian crew, then cross your fingers, legs, toes and maple leaves in a bid to hope it makes it across the pond to our Topshop stores and their collections in about 4 weeks time.
Ship Shop Those Stripes
Alas, with Leandra and Toppers invading my shopping radar and obsessive shopping nature. I went on the iPad scouting out the fellow contenders of the blue stripe shirt brigade, for this little ship shop post of mine. Yep, you read right, ship-shop, not chip shop (though I do love a chip shop equally as much as a little ship shop online browse).
Here’s what caught my eye as I was stripping down the stripes to ease the pain of the worst words ever…..SOLD OUT!!
Zara’s take on the alternative stripe shirt with embroidery, patches, graphics and pom-poms. Well done Zara.
J.crew’s contribution to the blue stripe brigade with ruffles, a twist on a menswear style cocktail shirt and the super cool Play Comme Des Garcons button down beauty.
Mango’s blue stripe mission is embracing the frills along with contradictory clean straight seams.
#OOTD: How I Wear Mine
Wearing: Topshop boutique stripe cold shoulder top, The Castings (Aritzia) high waist crop denim flare (I chopped off the hem to give a rough edge) , Vince Camuto red cage shoes.
I adore this Topshop boutique striped top. It dresses up and down like a dream. Teamed with denim shorts and flat sandals, its cute for some sunny wander around the city. Paired with crop flare denim and heels, then its ready for a night on the tiles. It’s a good one. I reckon I will get a fair bit of mileage out of it, cost-per-wear, it will be paying me to wear it in the end. No one is allowed to even utter the words of “that Leandra stripe top is very similar to the one you own” for fear of being scowled at and an ice cream being thrown at them. It’s different, very different. Besides, when your blog is named ‘Love a good stripe’ surely you can never have too many in your wardrobe. Justified. Moving on!!
Thanks for peeking!
